Deborah Nagano – Chair – Representing the City of Camas

My name is Deborah Nagano, and I am honored to be representing the City of Camas. By way of background, I am not a professional artist, musician, poet, dancer or actor, but my passion has been visual art since childhood. I have loved and collected art and supported artists since I was a teenager. However, my career and the realities of being a widowed mom to two amazing sons led me in a different direction.

As a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, I enjoyed a 40-year career as an attorney in California working in a real estate related industry. I have also served as a board member or officer in many organizations, both for profit and non-profit. I am also a wife, mother and a grandmother of very artistic and creative people and am an amateur artist myself. I am in awe of creative people and what they can create. Art in all its forms, reminds us what is possible, inspires us and challenges us. Art encourages dialog and opens our eyes and ears to stories we might not otherwise know; told by those we might not otherwise see. Art reminds us of what we all share and our common humanity, and that is why I love it.
